Wreatha Chant

Wreatha Ann Chant, 89, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Rosewood Assisted Living in  DeWitt, MI.

A Public Graveside Service will be held at Fulton Township Cemetery, Perrinton, MI on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 1:00 P.M.

Wreatha was born in Perrinton, MI on December 24, 1931, the daughter of Orley and Wealthy (Leddick) Chaffin. Wreatha graduated from Fulton High School, Middleton, MI with the class of 1950.   She married Donald Lee Chant in Fulton Township, on December 7, 1950. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage before Don passed away on July 17, 2018.

Wreatha received her real estate license and owned and operated Stony Creek Reality. The also owned the Kwik Kook Restaurant in St. Johns, MI. Wreatha and Don enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and spending winter in Florida. They also enjoy going to the Buckley Steam Engine Show. She was a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church. Wreath loved music and taught music to the one room schools in the early days and played piano and organ at the church. She also enjoyed gardening and watching birds.

She is survived by her children: Donald Lee and Janice Chant Jr. of Harrison, MI; Christie and Alvin Russell of St. Johns, MI; Brian "Buck" and Jodie Chant of Laingsburg, MI; Sarah and Todd Wharton of Royal Palm Beach, FL. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Suzanne (Ryan) Fletcher, Rachel Chant, Ken (Amy) Walters, Kenneth (Jamie) Chant, Bentley Wharton, Maxwell Wharton, Hudson Wharton; 3 great-grandchildren: Anna Chant, Samuel Fletcher, and Owen Fletcher, and brother Hubert (Velma) Chaffin.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 3 brothers: Robert, Alethan and Glee Chaffin, and sister Greta Sali.
