William E. "Bill" Skriba

      William E. "Bill" Skriba, age 85, of Ashley, MI, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital, Lansing, MI.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, with Rev. Fr. Raj Bandaru presiding. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI.

     William was born in Sickles, MI on April 8, 1938, the son of Rudolph and Ruby (Morse) Skriba. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1957. William married Rita Mary Schueller on September 9, 1961 at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI. They were blessed with forty-three years of marriage; prior to her passing on August 13, 2005.

     Bill retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was also a farmer & beekeeper. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and feeding fish at his pond, playing cards and woodworking. He loved doting and picking on his grandchildren and great grandchildren and feeding his grand dogs toast. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. He was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister, Ashley Lion's Club, and the Ashley Sportsman's Club. 

     He is survived by his daughter Cindy Custer and Steve Stauffer, son William J. and Belinda Skriba, granddaughter Danielle and Michael Engelhardt and their children: Hailey and Emma, granddaughter Heather and Nick Cochran and their children: Tinsley, Kilynn, and Baylen, grandson Eric and Amanda Skriba and their children: Olivia and Noah, granddaughter Kelsey and OJ Tomasek and their children: Owen and Sophia, grandson Dylan and Em Custer and their son Gordie, grandson Jeremy and Cassidy Skriba and their children: Stetson and Jameson and grandson Christopher Stauffer. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Virginia Skriba and brother-in-law Douglas Foote.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rita, siblings: Michael Skriba, James Skriba, and Janet Foote.
