William Ferdinand "Bill" Dickman

William Ferdinand” Bill” Dickman, age 74 of St. Louis passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan surrounded by his family.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Bill was born on January 31, 1947 in Cloverdale, Ohio. He was the first of eight children born to Ferdie and Maggie Dickman. Bill graduated from St. Louis High School in 1965. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Raycraft on August 4, 1966, while on leave from the Army where he continued to serve until 1968. He was a member of Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church and St. Louis VFW. Bill worked at Bear Truss for 45 years, even returning in retirement to answer phones. In recent years, he “drove bus” taking his grandchildren to and from school and their events. With a reputation for being an early riser, Bill’s family was always his first priority. He was routine about making the rounds through town to check on his kids and later grandkids; even when they weren’t awake to appreciate it.
He enjoyed watching sports, camping and spending time with family. He was a fan of the Detroit and MSU teams and supported his grandkids, nieces and nephews in all of their activities. He especially enjoyed the annual Dickman Camping Weekend. Bill was incredibly dependable. He was always punctual (early), made sure you had enough to eat and was encouraging to everyone. Bill was the “supervisor” of family traditions, keeping things organized as we made popcorn balls or Christmas cookies and often umpiring side yard ball games.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Dickman, son Joe (Lisa Endres) Dickman and grandchildren: Caleb and Masia (Nick) Reed; son Jon (Tammy) Dickman and grandchildren: Zoe, Jaiden, andSydney; daughter Jennifer (Ed) McKinin and grandchildren: Xander and Mack; four sisters: Mary Jo (Ike) Pankhurst, Marilyn Trevino, Joyce White, Janice Dickman; three sisters-in-law: Lorna Dickman, Becky Dickman, and Ruth Holley; brothers-in-law: Tom Raycraft, Bill (Judi) Sweaney; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Mary Kay Dickman, two brothers: Richard Dickman, Alfred Dickman; brother-in-law Lee Trevino; and sister-in-law Deb Robinson.
Memorials in Bill’s honor may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Schnepp Senior Care and Rehab and Mid-Michigan Health Alma and Midland. Special thanks to the Midland ICU nursing staff and Erik Kuhl.
