William “Bill” Charles Goodwin

William “Bill” C. Goodwin, age 78, of Ithaca, passed away September 1, 2017 at Masonic Pathways in Alma.

Bill was born February 28, 1939 to Orval D. and Laura B. (Harper) Goodwin in Arcada Township. Bill was one of the last students to begin his education in a one room schoolhouse. Bill graduated from Ithaca High School, where he played football.

Bill married Marilyn Davis in 1958 at the Presbyterian Church in Ithaca. He worked at Wolverine World Wide until the factory closed, and then worked for 15 years at Alma Products.

Bill will be remembered as a great father. He enjoyed camping with his children when they were younger. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and traveling - especially to go north. He was a member of the A Antique Tractor Club and enjoyed watching and participating in tractor pulls. He also enjoyed going to craft shows with Marilyn and making tractor lamps.

Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn; his son Charles Goodwin; daughter Michelle (Denny Wyeth) Beebe Wyeth; granddaughter Rebecca Beebe (companion Dan Spencer); great granddaughter Makayla; great grandson Zayden; brother Dick (Judy) Goodwin; sisters-in-law Rosalie Davis and Marlene Davis; and assorted nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law William Davis.

Funeral services for Bill will be 10am, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Barden Funeral Home. Pastor Rodger Tyrrell of Wellington, Kansas will officiate and burial will be at Chapel Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pm, Tuesday, September 5 2017, and from 9am until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Gratiot Commission on Aging.
