William Lee Allen

William Lee Allen, 93, of Alma, Michigan passed away June 7, 2017, at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.  He was born December 20, 1923 in St. Louis, Michigan to Hannah (Dailey) Allen.  He graduated from Fulton High School.  He joined the US Army in 1943 and served in the Pacific theater during World War II.  On August 17, 1946, he married Verneda Buchler in Alma, Michigan.  For several years he had his own carpentry and remodeling business.  He loved his work, and in his spare time he could often be found building  furniture and working on projects around his home.

Bill is survived by his wife, Verneda, daughter, Patricia (Sherman) Richmond of Alma, granddaughter, Sara Richmond (Ryan Davidson) of Maryland, and great-granddaughter, Ida Davidson of Maryland.  He was preceded in death by his mother and his siblings, Jack Allen and Rose Ann Hardy.

There will be a graveside service at the Ithaca Cemetery on Sunday, June 11 at 2 pm with Pastor Dave Perry officiating.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Gratiot County Commission on Aging, Ithaca, Michigan.
