Wesley G. Badger of Alma passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. He was 95.

Throughout the years, Wesley enjoyed outdoor activities of all sorts, particularly hunting, fishing and camping with his wife, Cora in their Apache pop-up camper. Wesley was an avid CB radio enthusiast, communicating with others under the handle of “Pa Badger.”

In his youth, Wesley spent time in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula on various farms, working teams of horses in the fields. During the Great Depression, he lived in the Upper Peninsula as part of the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC). Following his work there, he moved to the Detroit area where he began his career with Ford Motor Company, working in various positions including the assembly line. While working for Ford, he met and married his dear wife, Cora. The couple spent many years in Utica, Michigan, before selling and moving to Missouri for several years. In their later years, they moved back to Burton, Michigan. Shortly after Cora’s death, Wesley spent his remaining years at the Masonic Pathways home in Alma.

Wesley was preceded in death by his wife, Cora; parents, Ethel Johnston and Burt Badger; step father, Arthur Mayhew; sisters, Iris Badger, Ramona (Mayhew) Stableton; brothers, Ernest Mayhew, William Mayhew,  and Lyle Mayhew. He is survived by his sisters, Annabelle (Mayhew) Curtis of Midland and Jessie (Mayhew) Wilson of Pinconning; brothers, Stuart (Illya) Mayhew of Coleman, Leon (Ruth) Mayhew of Prescott, Valley, AZ; sister in law, Marian Mayhew of Coleman many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Wesley will be 11am Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca with Pastor Steve Swem officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Gladwin. Visitation will be held Monday from 10am until the time of the service.
