Wenda Francine (Moore) (Sillman) Duflo

       Wenda (Moore) Duflo, a long-time resident of rural Ashley, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

       Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel in St. Johns, MI, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Burial will take place at Union Home Cemetery, Greenbush Township, MI.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

       She was born on November 24, 1933, in Maple Rapids, MI, the daughter of Frank and Vivian (Scutt) Sillman.  On July 18, 1953, she married the love of her life, Chancey Moore.  Two children were born, a daughter Laurie, and a son Rickie (deceased).  Sadly, Chancey, passed away in 1992.  She then married Larry Duflo in 1995.  Larry passed away in 2015.

       Wenda graduated from Fulton High School and Central Michigan University with a degree in education.  She taught thirty-four years, the last twenty-six for Fulton Schools, and she loved teaching.  Wenda enjoyed reading, puzzles, game shows, cards, and collecting angels and chicken memorabilia but mostly any and all time spent with her family.

       She was a lifetime member of Retired Teachers of Michigan, MEA, NEA, and a past member of Rebekah Lodge #157.

       Wenda is survived by her daughter Laurie (Ted) Dachtler, three grandchildren: Eric (Damaris) Dachtler, Jessica (Carlos) Manchon, and Jennifer Dacthler; three great-grandchildren: Eric, Chloe, and Eva Dachtler; brother Terry (Jean) Sillman, sister Gloria Lamey, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Rickie, great-granddaughter Olivia, sisters: Joyce Wright and Dawn Powers; and a special nephew Michael Sillman.
