Victoria Mary Bennett, age 97, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Alma, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 27, 2025. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI at a later date.
Victoria was born in Shepherd, Michigan on December 19, 1927, the daughter of Stanley and Margaret (Wajda) Bajena. She attended St. Louis High School graduating with the class of 1946. Victoria married Gerald William Bennett on January 11, 1969, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alma, Michigan. They were blessed with 49 years of marriage prior to Gerald's passing on July 2, 2016.
Victoria worked as a switchboard operator for General Telephone Company in Alma and retired after 25 1/2 years of employment. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles and flower gardening. Victoria was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Louis, MI and lived most of her life in the Alma area.
She is survived by her children: Susan (Donald) Smith, of Alma, MI; Linda Johnson of Alma, MI; Marianne (Patrick) Betts of St. Louis, MI; Thomas (Becky) Porter of Arizona; and Jon Patric (Kathy) Porter of Gregory, MI. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Kristina) Smith, Robb (Tiffany) Smith, Daniel (MC) Smith, Steven (Melissa) Smith, Amanda (Jason) Patterson, Timm (Faith) Johnson, Kristina (Dan) Lewis, Matthew Johnson, Melissa (Brandon) Stroven, Travis (Jamie) Betts, and Lee Porter; many great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews. Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, and her sons: Richard Porter, and Christopher Porter, one son-in-law Gary Johnson, her sister Ann Cater, brothers: Tony, John and Henry Bajena.
