Verle Crocker

Verle Lamar Crocker, 83, of Ithaca, passed away on December 22, 2013 surround in love with family.  Verle was born December 8, 1930 to George and Frances (Wymer) Crocker of Ithaca, MI, one of 4 children.  He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1949. Verle served in the Army during the Korean War as an MP.  He was stationed in Otsu, Japan where he met the love of his life, Kiyoko.  They were married there on May 15, 1953.

In 1954 Verle began a long career in the manufacturing industry, first starting with Redmond’s in Ithaca and later transferring to Motor Products in Owosso where he retired in 1992.  Verle farmed and raised livestock his entire life.  Family was very important to Verle and he loved spending time together, especially during holidays and special events when the entire family was together enjoying a home cooked meal.  He was a devoted Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions fan.

Verle is survived by his beautiful wife, Kiyoko; children Verona (Alden) Howay ; Glenda (Ken) Showers; Kelvin (Karen) Crocker ; Emily Crocker; grandchildren Jenny(Dan), Jason (Steffany), Amy (Justin), Marc, Doug, and Xavier and one great-grandchild, Austin; brother Robert (Phyllis)Crocker; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Verle was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold, sister Margaret, and Grandson Tommy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.  The family will greet friends and celebrate Verle’s beautiful life from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Barden Funeral Home. .
