Vera Helen Oberlitner

Vera H. Oberlitner, age 87, of rural Alma, died Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Schnepp Health Care Center in St. Louis.

vera was born in rural Ashley on July 31, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Stazie (Rasdale) Kozeny.  She attended Fulton High School.  On February 25, 1950, she married Carl Oberlitner.  They were married for 64 years when he preceded her in death on April 8, 2014.

Vera loved to cook, and especially took a lot of pride and enjoyment in canning the vegetables and fruits which she would grow in her vegetable and flower gardens.  She was also a lifelong member of the ZCBJ Lodge in Bannister.

Vera is survived by her daughters, Marlene K. Oberlitner of Alma and Carol Lynn Oberlitner of Ithaca; her sister-in-law, Marilyn House; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Carl Oberlitner; and her brother and sisters, Frank Kozeny, Agnes Bauman, Pauline Otto, and Mildred Kozeny.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Joseph L. Barden officiating.  Interment will follow in Ford Cemetery in Bannister.  Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Barden Funeral Home.
