Valentina "Val" (Mandryko) Badder

   Valentina "Val" Badder, age 73, of Mount Pleasant, MI, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, at Prestige Centre Assisted Living, Mt. Pleasant, MI, with her family by her side.

    Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, with Mrs. Robin Losee officiating.  Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the funeral home.

     Valentina was born in Bradford on Avon, England on December 9, 1949, the daughter of Wladimir and Dunia (Kozachok)  Mandryko.  On September 4, 1971, Val married William "Butch" Badder in Chippenham, England. They have been blessed with fifty-one years of marriage.

     Val loved life! Her very presence would light up the room. She enjoyed taking her granddaughter shopping, family gatherings, a good joke, and a Bacardi and Coke.   Val was a Dispatcher for Gratiot County 911 for twenty-one years. Her calming voice and legendary British accent helped many people during a time of crisis. She retired in 2015.

     Val is loved by her husband Butch, daughter Tanya (Jerry) Bardy of Mt. Pleasant, son Gene (Heather) Badder of Mason, granddaughter Rue Bardy, one brother Victor (Margery) Mandryko, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and best friend Becky Cook.
