Urban Luttig

Urban Louis Luttig, 86, of Fowler, MI, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 , at Sparrow Hospital , Lansing with his son by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI, Friday, August 20, 2021 , at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard presiding.  Burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler.  Visitation will be held 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Goerge Chapel.  A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Urban was born in Fowler, MI on April 27, 1935 , the son of Leo and Catherine (Goodman) Luttig.  He served his country in the United States Army.  On October 1, 1960 , Urban married Shirley Elizabeth Vozar at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage.  He was a lifetime member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Urbie was a talented wood worker making furniture, porch gliders, and many other things.  He liked to ride his bike around town.  He prayed the rosary faithfully.  He enjoyed time at the cottage with his family.  He liked to play Euchre with his brothers, Aunt and Uncle.  Most of all, Urbie loved his wife, children, grandchildren and spending time together.

Urbie is survived by his wife Shirley; 2 sons: Tim (Jane) Luttig of Washington Twp. MI; and Dave (Karen) Luttig of Fowler, MI; and 5 grandchildren: Kyle (Katie) Luttig, Caitlin Luttig, Joshua Luttig, Julia Luttig, and Brandon Luttig.  He is also survived by one brother Paul (Pat) Luttig; 3 sisters: Catherine (Bill) Heckman, Liz (Roger) Cook, and Helen (Jerry) Stump; brother-in-law Peter Weber; sister-in-law Sue Vozar; and many nieces and nephews.  Urbie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Norm (Rosaline) Luttig, Ray (Willa) Luttig, Andy (Margie) Luttig, and Ernest Luttig; sisters: Viola (Julius) Koenigsknecht, and Irene Weber, and brother-in-law Jim Vozar.
