Trae Jamal Garcia, age 23, of Mount Pleasant, MI, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, October 20, 2025, with Pastor Phil Maxwell officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and on Monday from 10-1 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Trae was born in Alma, Michigan on August 8, 2002, the son of Emilio Jesus Garcia and Jennifer R. Vereb. He was a graduate of St. Louis High School with the Class of 2021.
Trae was blessed with a contagious smile. He loved his family and adored his friends. Trae was an avid sports fan and athlete, he was outgoing, funny, and never asked for anything or wanted anyone to worry about him.
He will be remembered for his laughs, facial expressions, and when he was in the room there was always laughter. Trae's jokes and the fun he shared left a mark on everyone he met. He naturally was the center of attention and was a spitfire. Trae was a great friend to many and poured his life into people. He played hard and gave 200 percent always.
He is survived by his mother Jennifer Vereb of Mt. Pleasant, MI; father Emilio Garcia of Kalamazoo, MI; parents of the heart Phil and Wendy Maxwell of St. Louis, MI; his sister Miah Garcia of St. Louis, MI; his sister Ashlynn Kato, of St. Louis, MI; his sister Brook and Keith Irani of Blanchard, MI; his brother Luke Maxwell of Chariton, Iowa; his grandfather Joe Best of Alma, MI; his grandmother Estella Jaurez of Alma, MI. Trae is also survived by his aunts, uncles: April (John) Marzec of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Max (Valorie) Vereb of Clare, MI; Shawnie (Dave) Coffin of Six Lakes, MI; Billie Best of Weslaco, TX; and Nicole (Ramirez) Martinez of Alma, MI; and Colten (Kati) Conner of Alma, MI; his cousins and many, many friends. Trae was preceded in death by his grandmother Carol Vereb, his grandfather Paul Jerry, his great-grandparents Garcia, his aunt Heidi Geister, and his aunt Tami Conner.
