Thomas Joe Van Velzor

      Thomas Joe "Tom" Van Velzor, age 57, of Livonia, MI and formerly of Walled Lake, MI, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at his home.

      A cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

      Thomas was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 18, 1966, the son of John Thomas and Jo Ethel (Rimmer) Van Velzor. He graduated from Walled Lake Western High School with the Class of 1984, and earned an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Oakland Community College. 

      Tom loved wood working and was a talented artist. He enjoyed golfing. In later years, he liked riding his motorcycle. He worked for General Motors for over 30 years.

      He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Van Velzor of New Haven, MI; son Kyle (Piper Sata) Van Velzor of Livonia, MI; one sister Rhonda (Dan) Daugherty; his brothers: Kevin Van Velzor, and Jeff (Trish) Van Velzor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert Van Velzor, and one sister Joyce Gill.
