Thomas Leroy "Tom" Smith

    Thomas Leroy "Tom" Smith, age 62, of Perrinton, MI, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.

     In following Tom's wishes, a cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.

     Thomas was born in Carson City, Michigan on September 12, 1960, the son of Merriel Junior and Pauline Joyce (Bywater) Smith. He graduated from Fulton High School.  On June 16, 1985, Thomas married Peggy Ann Craig in St. Johns, Michigan. They have been married nearly thirty-eight years.

     Tom worked for Shook Asphalt for over 40 years and served on the Perrinton Fire Department for 38 years. He liked hunting, fishing and camping, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren, buying them sweets and spoiling them.

     He is survived by his wife Peggy, son Thomas Smith, Jr., daughter Alyssa (Aaron) Lambert, and six grandchildren: Madison Lambert, Logan Lambert, Brighton Morford, Aaralyn Lambert, Jarelynn Hartman, and Jack Lambert. He is also survived by seven siblings: Teresa Carman, Pauletta (Scott) Foster, Casandra Smith, Rosette Litwiller, Darci (Rodney) Root, Gary (Debbie) Shook, and Tim Shook; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Margretta Smith.
