Terry Lee Kolhoff

August 8, 1968 — March 1, 2026

St. Johns

Terry Lee Kolhoff, age 57, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by his family, at Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 6, 2026, with Pastor Jut Daron officiating. Burial will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery, Shepherd, MI, at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 6-8 P.M. and again, on Friday, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Terry was born in Alma, MI on August 8, 1968, the son of John Cletus and Bonnie Beulah (Wixson) Kolhoff. He graduated from St. Louis High School, with the class of 1987. He went on to earn both his bachelors and master’s degree from Central Michigan University. For many years, Terry was a stay-at-home dad for his three wonderful children, but would work for the Clinton County RESA program as an administrative assistant before his retirement.
Terry had a passion for books, table top games (especially Dungeons and Dragons), and the Detroit Red Wings. He did not discriminate against any genre in his vast book collection, and always looked forward to his weekly D&D sessions with his friends and family. Terry also loved spending time with his family on the lake, relaxing and chatting around the campfire. Terry's passion for hockey extended beyond his love for the Red Wings, as he was very supportive of his children in their youth hockey leagues. He never missed a game.
One of Terry's favorite places to go was Gen Con. For over 20 years he would travel to Indianapolis with his friends and family to play games and talk about all kinds of gaming.
Terry would bend over backwards for anyone, and was known as the resident tech expert to his step-mother. He was reliable friend, brother, son, and father. Terry will always be remembered as a devoted and giving father (and a master at bad dad jokes). His faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering.
He is survived by his children: Cameron Kolhoff, Jared Kolhoff, and Erynn Kolhoff; his father and step-mother John and Dorothy Kolhoff; his brothers: John (Kathleen) Kolhoff, and Greg (Cindy) Kolhoff; his step-sister Shelley Hoffman; and his step-brother Jason Sturm. He is also survived by nieces: Brittney Fuentes, Rheanah Sturm, and Kaitlin Kolhoff; his nephews Sean Kolhoff, Balin Kolhoff, Keaton Sturm, Gatlin Hoffman; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, Michigan.
