Susan Kay Furman

      Susan Kay Furman, age 69, of St. Johns, MI, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home.

      Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes- Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 30, 2024.  Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  

      Susan was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on July 22, 1954, the daughter of Robert Dale and Ruth Leona (Moledor) Tressel.   She graduated from St. Johns High School, with the class of 1972.  Sue married her high school sweetheart, August Frazier, Furman, on June 4, 1971, in Pontiac, MI.  They were blessed with nearly twenty-four years of marriage, prior to his passing on May 4, 1995.

      Sue worked for Lansing Ophthalmology for almost thirty years.  Sue and August worked together with the Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts in St. Johns, for many years.  She looked forward to trips antiquing with her sister-in-law Diane.  Sue enjoyed volleyball, ceramics, flowers, and lunch with friends.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

      She is survived by her son August and Julie Furman of St. Johns, MI; her daughter Amy Furman of St. Johns, MI; grandson Hunter Furman; and her siblings: Frances and William Wright, Robert and Freda Tressel, Jr., Gary Tressel, Steve and Cindy O’Neill, William and Mary Tressel, Mark and Delores Tressel, and Michael and Jacqueline Tressel.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband August, infant son, one brother Richard (Donna) Tressel, and sister-in-law Diane Tressel.
