Susan Carlson

Susan Kay Carlson, age 74, of Alma, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at her home.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Sue's Life 5-8 P.M. Friday, September 24, 2021 at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI.  A private family burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens.

Sue was born in Beatrice, NE on April 1, 1947, the daughter of Aubrey and Hope (Furse) Carlson.  She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1966.

Sue was a telephone operator for General Telephone in Alma for many years.  She retired in 1995.  In retirement she worked in the furniture business and home health care.

Family was her life. Sue loved her grandchildren; they were the light of her life.  She loved attending their sporting events and spending time with them.  She always said her two greatest titles were "Mom" and "Grandma".  Sue was also very proud of her nephew's three children.  She always knew what they were doing and had pictures and stories of them to share.

Sue is survived by her daughter Dori (Zach) Foster and their children: Cambre and Garver of Ithaca, MI.  She is also survived by her brother Kim (Louise) Carlson, niece Alana Carlson (Frank), nephew Aaron (Grace) Carlson, and great-niece and nephews: Ryker, Barrett, and Peyton.  Sue was preceded in death by her parents and many aunts and uncles.
