Sharon Lee (Mizer) Hagen, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the age of 82.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Louis Church of Christ, on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 11:00 A.M., with Dr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will take place at Pritchard Cemetery, Elwell, MI. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 5-8 P.M.
Sharon was born on July 11, 1940 in Alma, MI the daughter of George and Dorothy (Fullerton) Mizer. As a young woman she enjoyed performing in School Theater and as a majorette in the St. Louis High School band. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1958. As a young adult, she enjoyed working as a nursing aide in the maternity ward at Gratiot Community Hospital and later, as a school monitor at State Street Elementary School.
On October 4, 1958, she married Larry Lou Hagen. They were blessed with one daughter, Kelly Devine and two sons: James Hagen and John Hagen. James passed away February 2, 1965 from complications from spina bifida.
Sharon will especially be remembered for her patience, kind soul, selfless attitude, and generous spirit. She was an incredible care-giver, a great listener, a loyal friend, and one with great tenacity to push on in spite of life’s difficulties. She brought an indescribable amount of joy and warmth to her family, and will be remembered for her handwritten cards, freshly baked cookies, special attention to details, and a hearty laugh. She greatly treasured her kids and grandkids.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Kelly (Dean) Devine of Massillon OH; son John (Diane) Hagen of Midland, MI; grandson David Devine; granddaughters: Katherine Devine, Jaclyn and Katie Hagen; brothers: Rex Mizer and Tom (Karen) Mizer; and sisters: Retha (Tom) Freeman, Kim Pratt, and Sue (Dave) Bacon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry Hagen; her son, James; and two brothers Ron Mizer and Jim Mizer.
