Sharon Faye (Walkington) Bovee, 83 of Ithaca, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025. Sharon lived a vibrant life. She was a lifelong farm girl/farm wife. She and her sister Barbara (Walkington) Prikasky were raised on their family farm, with their parents Leo and Letha Walkington. They were expected to work alongside their father on the farm, as well as in the house with their mother. This made Sharon's transition to a farmwife quite natural when she married Roger Bovee on October 8, 1960. Sharon shared many of the farming responsibilities as well as keeping the books and records. As a homemaker, Sharon maintained the household while raising their three children, Steven, Lori and Shari.
Sharon shared her gift of cooking and hosting with many others. She often hosted out-of-town friends and family. Their house was always an open invitation for others to visit and stay. While hosting, Sharon prepared meals; many of these meals were specific to her guests, like fried mush for breakfast when Roger's family visited. Also, Cinnamon rolls and chili when the deer hunters came to stay. She had specialty dishes that were requested at family get-togethers and potlucks. She shared her gift of cooking when feeding the farm help, which often included delivering meals to the fields.
Sharon supported Roger and the Agricultural Industry by being involved in such groups as Dairy Diplomats and Farm Bureau. She enjoyed several of her own social groups, as well. Some of these included Red Hats, Child Study, Extension Group and simply having coffee with friends. She shared her talents of sewing and cooking by teaching and leading 4-H groups.
Sharon was a member of the Ithaca United Methodist Church, where she served in various ways. In her later years, Sharon and Roger attended Gold Canyon Methodist Church in Arizona and New Haven Church of the Brethren in Middleton.
Wherever Sharon's family was, was her favorite place to be! She loved to be with her children and grandchildren whether it was supporting them at their sporting events, dance recitals, 4-H events, shopping with them, party planning, crafting together or preparing family dinners with them. She always made herself available to help take care of her grandchildren when needed. They were certainly the love of her life, and she made sure they knew that.
Sharon enjoyed many years of traveling with Roger, eventually settling in Arizona during the winter months. They also enjoyed spending time at their place at Houghton Lake during the summers. Their active social lives allowed them to connect or reconnect with many special friends. Sharon enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest by supporting her husband, loving on her family and serving others along the way.
She is survived by her son Steven (Cyndi) Bovee, daughters: Lori (John) Misenhelder, Shari (Scott) Nevins, 5 grandchildren: Latisha (Rugelio) Ramereiz, Ryan (Sarah) Nevins, Conrad (Terri) Bovee, Brooklyn (Adam) Baltimore, Cody (Breanna) Nevins and her sister Barbara Prikasky. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Arelio, Bailey, Latisha, Kalani, Leo, Lita, Cooper, Brady, Emerlyne, Sasha, Roger and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers-in-law: Stuart Prikasky, Harry (Lois) Bovee, Richard (Beverly) Bovee, sisters-in-law: Virginia (Ernie) Williams, Jeanette (Charles) Hardman, and Doris Kay (Leon) Barnes.
