Sharon Joan Altvater

     Sharon Joan Altvater, age 88, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Grace Haven Assisted Living, St. Johns, MI.
     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 9, 2026, with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
     Sharon was born in Middlebury Township near Ovid, Michigan on June 25, 1937, the daughter of Joe and Violet (Brincefield) Jacobs. She married Robert Judd Altvater on March 2, 1954 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing on November 11, 2019.
     Robert was a lifelong farmer and Sharon was always by his side helping around the homestead. She had a bountiful vegetable garden, always canning her harvest and sharing with family and friends. Sharon spent many years operating her own residential cleaning business. Sharon enjoyed flower gardening, knitting and time spent camping at Houghton Lake. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI.
     She is survived by her sons: Kim Altvater of St. Johns, MI; and Mark and Frances Altvater of St. Johns, MI, her grandchildren: Paul Altvater of Lansing, MI; and Amanda and Aaron Demmon of Dixon, CA;and great-grandsons: Kadin Demmon and Uriah Altvater. She was preceded in death by her father Joe Jacobs, mother Violet Vitek and step-father Martin Vitek, husband Robert Altvater, her brother Douglas Jacobs and nephew Michael Jacobs.
