Ruth I. Thompson, age 91, of Ithaca died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Ashley Care Center.
Ruth was born June 14, 1922 to Harold Reuben and Ivah Marie (Sturgis) Thomas in Lafayette Township, Michigan. She married Floyd William Thompson October 15, 1949 in Edgewood, Michigan.
Ruth lived to raise her three sons, and enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She loved to travel into town to do her shopping. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, and will be remembered for the pies she baked as she wore her many aprons. Ruth was of strong faith and was a gracious Christian woman who loved to go to church. She was a faithful member of the Edgewood Church of God.
Ruth is survived by her children, Kevin (Beth) Thompson of Merrill, Scott (Diane) Thompson of Merrill, Mike (Lynette) Thompson of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Heather (Tyler), Kaleb, Scott Jr. (Justine), Mylan, Joshua (Brandy), Nicholas (Elisha); and three great grandchildren, Anikn, Guner, and Abilene.
She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd, parents Harold and Ivah Thomas, and brother Murl Thomas.
Funeral services for Ruth will be 2pm, Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Edgewood Church of God. Pastor Dave Perry will officiate and burial will follow at Lafayette Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8pm, Saturday, August 17, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Memorial Contributions may be made to either the Edgewood Church of God or to the Ashley Care Center.
