Roy "Wendell" Peabody, age 94, of Blanchard, Michigan, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis, Michigan with his family at his side.
In following Wendell's wishes, a cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Burial will take place at Pine River Cemetery, Blanchard, Michigan at a later date.
Wendell was born in Fenwick, Michigan on June 10, 1931, the son of Ralph and Mary Louise (Draper) Peabody. He graduated from Stanton High School. Wendell proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army and earned the rank of Corporal. On December 31, 1954, Wendell married Joyce Elaine Glowacki at the minister's home in Stanton, Michigan. They were blessed with seventy years of marriage.
Wendell enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He was a member of "Poor Man Pullers" and spent many weekends at garden tractor pulls. He liked to go to NASCAR races and watch his nephews: Joe, John, and John Hunter race. He was always ready to help others. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, four children: Faith (David) George, Ralph Peabody, Lori Andersen, and Frank (Marcia) Peabody; nine grandchildren: Calvin (Ashley) Hansen, David (Jodi) Hansen, Jennifer (Mike) Kruger, Erika (Daren) Snyder, Danielle (Tyler) Williams, Andrew (Alex) Andersen, Melissa (Jack) Thomas, Dalton Peabody, and Taylor Peabody; twelve great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren: Mitchell (Jessie) George, and Whitney George; his brother Gaylen "Butch" (Terri) Peabody; his brother-in-law Donald Foos; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Myrna Foos.
