Rose Santrucek

Rose Santrucek, age 101, of Houghton Lake, MI formerly of Bannister, MI passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at her daughters home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Thomas Bradley officiating.  Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 1:00-4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Rose was born in Bannister, Michigan on December 7, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Motz) Kubinger.  She married Ernest Santrucek on April 27, 1945 in Bannister, MI. Ernest passed away on October 22, 1973.  After Ernest passed away Rose moved to Owosso. She spent the last 7 years living in Houghton Lake with her daughter and son in law.

Rose was a homemaker, and she worked with her husband on the farm.  She enjoyed going to the casinos and tending her flowers.  She took care of her mother until her death on November 30, 1991.  She was a lifelong member of the ZCBJ Lodge, Bannister, MI and she attended the Bannister United Methodist Church.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Jane and Donald Johnson of Houghton Lake, MI, Erna and Craig Pedigo of Wales, MI, granddaughter Elly and Chris Stover of Port Huron, MI, grandson Mike Pedigo of Auburn Hills, MI, great grandsons; Benne and Nickie Stover of Port Huron, MI, sisters; Jenny and Robert Mahoney of East Lansing, MI and Lillian Schubel of Vero Beach, FL.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Elizabeth Kubinger, her husband Ernest, and sister Mamie Skaryd.
