Ronald Curtis Tomasek, age 68, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at VFW Hall of Ovid from 5-7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Ron’s family and friends will have an opportunity to share memories at 5:30 P.M. Food and drinks will be provided.
Ron was born in Saint Johns, MI on June 4, 1954, the son Edward and Cleo Evonne (Hefty) Tomasek. He was active in the FFA and graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School, with the class of 1972. His love of farm life started early, learning from his Dad, and working alongside his brothers on the family farm. Ron loved antique toy tractors and shopping antique sales with his Mom.
After farming for over a decade, Ron started R.C. Tomasek & Sons Construction, which built many houses and pole barns in and around the Ovid area. He was fond of sharing his knowledge and memories about life and was always interested in the lives of his family and friends. Ron was a giving person and eager to help others, even at a moment’s notice. His passion was to help on projects, always sharing his good-humored spirit. Later in life, he enjoyed rides around the neighborhood, with his friend Jon.
Through his generosity of time and labor, Ron assisted in creating gardens and beehives- for the love of learning, doing, and staying active as he was able to. He read the paper to see his grandkids accomplishments and enjoyed watching the youngest explore outside. Family was an important part of his life, especially in his last few years.
He is survived by his mother Evonne Droste; his three children: Joshua (Kari) Tomasek, Robert Tomasek (Jessica Dennis), and Kristin Tomasek; three grandchildren: Jacob, Jenna, and Logan Tomasek; his siblings Paul (Jeannie) Tomasek, Lou Ann (Edward) Rudziensky, Brian (Terri) Tomasek, and Greg (Jamie) Tomasek. Many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, also survive him; with whom he enjoyed entertaining with his know how. He was preceded in death by his father and son-in-law Andrew Kleimeyer.
Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family. Online condolences can be sent to www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, Michigan.
