Roger Dallas Reed, Sr., age 88, of Henderson, MI, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI, at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with Pastor Carol Kusnier officiating. Burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery, Fairfield Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Roger was born in Flint, Michigan on January 4, 1938, the son of Elmer and Jessie (McDowell) Reed. He married Carol Lee Henry on October 28, 1960; they were married for fifty-three years prior to her passing away on March 26, 2014.
Roger retired from General Motors and retired from Operating Engineers #324. Roger was a member of the Elsie Mason Lodge and the Byron Mason Lodge. He was a member of the Saginaw County Sheriff Posse for 30 years. He raised draft horses and pulled the surrey cart at the Shiawassee County Fair for several years. Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had his pilot’s license and if you ever rode with him you had to be ready for a belly tickler. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him the greatest joy. He was a member of Church of Christ
He is survived by his son Roger D. and Lisa Reed, Jr.; his daughter Carla and Scott Reed-Christensen; his granddaughter Jessie and Aaron Leckenby; his granddaughter Megan and Brent Browne; his grandson Dalton and Amber Bissonnette; his granddaughter Cailee Bissonnette and Buddy; and his grandson Dillon Bissonnette and Jill; 7 great-grandchildren: Kelsie, Cammie, and Jackie Leckenby, Jacob and Carson Browne, Easton, Wilder, and Gracelynn Bissonnette; his brothers: Richard Reed, and Ronald and Marie Reed; and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carol Lee Reed, his brother Dale Reed and his sister Bev Polkinghorne.
