Roger Alan Mackie

     Roger Alan Mackie, age 80, of St. Louis, MI passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Crestwood Village, Mt. Pleasant, MI.

     A Memorial Service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Alma, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, with Pastor John Eich officiating.

     Roger was born in Midland, Michigan on December 14, 1944, the son of Bruce Alan and Alma Emma (Sturm) Mackie. He graduated from Handy High School, Bay City, MI, with the Class of 1962. He married Carol Virginia (Meyer) Kolb on August 10, 1976, at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, MI

     Roger was a meat cutter at Vescio's in Alma and a store manager in Ithaca at IGA and then also at Goff's in St. Johns. He went on to become the store manager at Freeland Correctional Facility, and later St. Louis Correctional Facility. Roger enjoyed his work at the prison and mentoring inmates. He liked golfing, bowling and motorcycle trips with friends. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Lutheran faith.

     He is survived by his wife Carol Mackie; children: Jeff (Carol) Mackie, Lisa Mackie (Don Webster), Kari (Stuart) Kolb, Kevin (Galina) Kolb, Kristin (John) Rathje, and Keith (Heidi) Kolb. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Hillary Kolb, Maria Kolb, John (Erin) Rathje, Anna Rathje (Melvin) Guilamo, Stephen Rathje, Sarah (Dakota Huey) Rathje, Jessica (Tyler) Blohm, Jacob (Savannah) Mackie, Jordan Mackie, Rachel (Aaron Lewandowski) Kolb, and Emily Kolb; and his great-grandchildren: Evelyn Rathje, Isla Rathje, Olivia Blohm, Charlotte Mackie, Daisy Mackie, and his sister Judy (Glen) Herbolsheimer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
