Robert G. Wideman, age 92, of Ithaca died Monday, March 24, 2014 at Pine River Healthcare Center in St. Louis.

Robert was born May 29, 1921 to Bertha and R.B. Wideman in Newark Township, Ithaca.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was crowned as the Gratiot Corn King in 1955 and was Realtor of the year during the development of Sugar Springs in Gladwin in 1972. He farmed in Gratiot County for many years. Robert was also an avid card player all his life and loved the out doors - especially taking walks through the woods, mushrooming, and hunting.

Robert is survived by his children, Van Wideman, Pat (Allen) Nowak, Tom (Nancy) Wideman, Becky (Ron) Ebright, Bill (Lisa) Wideman, Jim (Vicki) Wideman; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and R.B.; and siblings Joyce Wideman, Rosco Wideman, Maxine Stone, Willena Kolar, Jeanne Wideman, Helen Muscott, and Glenn Wideman.

Burial will be 11am, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Eureka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Thompson Home Library Expansion Fund.
