Robert G. "Bob" Schlarf

    Robert G. "Bob" Schlarf, age 85, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital, Lansing, Michigan.

     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 5:00 P.M., with Pastor Bob Fall officiating.  Burial will take place at Beechler Cemetery, Newark Township, MI, at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.

     Robert was born in Ithaca, Michigan on January 20, 1939, the son of RG and Lottie Leona (Walter) Schlarf. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the Class of 1956.   On May 12, 1980, Robert married Olga Karowictz Humphrey at their home in Ithaca, Michigan. They were married thirty-nine years prior to her passing on July 17, 2019.  Bob and Olga both retired from Contech.

     Bob was an avid hunter. He is recorded in the Michigan Big Game Records Book (Commemorative Bucks of Michigan) for taking an 11 Pt. Whitetail Buck (score 130.6) in Gratiot County in 2003. Bob was a jack-of-all-trades and willing to help anyone. 

      He is survived by three sons: Wayne (Ronda) Schlarf of St. Louis, MI; Steve (Julie Robinson) Schlarf of Saginaw, MI; and Dale (Janice) Schlarf of Lake Isabella, MI; seven grandchildren: Robert, Kaylie, Jessica, Matthew, Erika, Abby, and Jenny; four great-grandchildren: Brandon, Brianna, Eric, and Maddi; sister Harriet Miller, and many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Olga, daughter Dawn Schlarf, and four siblings: Leona Elliott, Barbara Kanine, Shirley Gath, and Ted Schlarf.
