Robert “Bob” E. Guild, age 91, of Ithaca, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Country Friends Adult Foster Care.
Bob was born at the family home west of Ithaca, on November 21, 1923, the son of Fred Ellsworth and Susan (Sipel) Guild. He was a WWII Army veteran, having served in central Europe. Soon after his discharge from the army, he married Nina Fern Mahler on April 12, 1946.Together they raised five children. Nina and Bob were happily married for almost 69 years. He worked at GM Fisher Body in Lansing for thirty seven years.
Bob loved spending time with his family, putting together puzzles, going for walks, helping repair things, playing games, and gardening.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nina Fern; his daughters, Linda (Carl) Sturgeon of Milford and Gloria (Ted) Roe of Boxboro, MA; his sons, Bob (Marie) Guild of Eaton Rapids, Roger (Kathy) Guild of Hoffman Estates, IL, and Randall (Sarah) Guild of Okemos; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his brother, Fred Guild of Ada; and his twin sister, Marguerite Fisher of Ann Arbor. Also, survived by Sister-in-Laws, Jean Mahler of Perrinton and Mary Mahler of St. Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Don, William, and Kenneth; and his sister, Dorothy Harrington.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, at the Ithaca Church of God, with Pastor Tom Whitesil officiating. Interment will follow in North Star Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 9, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.Memorial contributions may be made to the Ithaca Church of God or to Great Lakes Hospice.
