Richard Wayne "Rick" Vozar

     Richard Wayne "Rick" Vozar, age 79, of Vestaburg, MI, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, with Pastor Darwyn Hassert, officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI, at a later date. Visitation will be held at 11:00 A.M., prior to the service at the funeral home.
     Richard was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 28, 1945, the son of Andrew John and Jennie Vergene (Searles) Vozar. He graduated from Ithaca High School. After graduation, he worked for Wolverine Worldwide for 25 years, and then worked for the Department of Corrections for 9 years. On April 28, 1989, Richard married Barbara Esch Cooper in Stanton, MI. They have been blessed with thirty-five years of marriage.
     Richard enjoyed collecting guns and coins. He was a member of the NRA and president of the Pioneer Gun Club for many years. He liked target shooting, and fishing. He dearly loved his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
     He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Brenda (Russell) Vozar-Weaver, four stepchildren: Donald Cooper, Steven (Connie) Cooper, Mary Cooper, and Gregory Cooper; special grandson Scott (Stacy) Leslie, many numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his sister Carol (Sam) Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter Jennie Leslie Baker, and two great-grandchildren: Hannah Rivard, and Lane Roslund.
