Richard Henry Shattuck

     Richard Henry Shattuck, age 80, of Ashley, MI, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 2, 2026, surrounded by his family at Rosewood Adult Foster Care, Ithaca, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, with his nephew, Scott Shattuck, officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
     Richard was born in Breckenridge, MI on April 15, 1945; the son Eldon and Angeline (Piatek) Shattuck. He graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1962, and would go on to proudly serve in the submarine unit for the U.S. Navy. After his service, he worked for various factories in the area before becoming a company driver for Aircraft Precision Products. He retired from APP after thirty years of service.
     On November 27th, 1976, Richard married the love of his life, Berneda (Nieman) Shattuck at their home in Ashley, MI. They spent over 49 years together making beautiful memories with their family going fishing, camping, traveling, backroading, going to casinos, sitting at the bonfire with a few beers.
     Richard filled his time with many hobbies. He loved watching old westerns, hunting, setting up fireworks, and yelling at his favorite baseball teams through the television. More than anything, Richard loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and many pets.
     He is survived by his loving wife Berneda; his daughter Laura Shattuck; his step-son Ronald (Angie) Kimmel; his step-daughter Susan Havelka; his step-daughter Christine Waldron; his step-daughter Ellen Zimmerman; his grandchildren: Wyatt Clements, Cass (Jenna) Bongard, Justin (Stacy) Kimmel, Josh Kimmel, Anna Kimmel, Emily (Steven) Schlaack, Zach (Isis) Kimmel, Kyle (Heather) Kimmel, Grace (Matt) Zimmerman, Jon (Bailey) Zimmerman; great-grandchildren Ethan Kimmel, Brooklyn Kimmel, Ariel Kimmel, Logan Brzak, Hudson Kimmel, Natalie Brzak, Evelyn Kimmel, Rhenley Zimmerman; his sister Koreen (Terry) Smith; his sister Arlinda Shattuck; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Gerald (Mattie) Shattuck Loren (Lillian) Shattuck, and Carol (Bob) Hall; his sons-in-law: Terry Waldron and Mike Zimmerman; his step-daughter Carol Bongard; step-son David Kimmel. 
     The family would like to extend a special thanks to the loving, caring staff at Rosewood Adult Foster Care. They would also like to extend a warm thank you to The Care Team hospice for making it so much easier with their love, hugs, and prayers.
