Richard Lee “Rick” Putnam, born January 11, 1955, in Alma, Michigan, at Smith Memorial Hospital, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by the loved ones he cherished, so deeply.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Doug Strait officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star Twp., MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Rick was the son of Robert and Amelia “Pudge” (Baker) Putnam, and grew up in a home filled with faith, family, and strong values. He graduated from Ithaca High School, and went on to build a long and dedicated career with Delphi/General Motors in Flint, Michigan, where he worked for more than thirty years before retiring.
Rick lived a life rich with devotion and purpose. He loved sports, music, and writing poetry, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family. His faith in Jesus guided every step he took, and he devoted his life to sharing that love with everyone he met. Rick had a gift for speaking—steady, confident, and full of conviction. When he spoke, people listened. He was a natural leader whose words and presence left a lasting impact.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Trudy Putnam; his daughters: Jill Putnam, Jodi (Nick) Parks, and Carrie Putnam; and his grandchildren: Anthony Putnam, AndreAnna Putnam, Alysa (Landon Parshall) Putnam, Kenneth Baker, Kayleigh Parks, and Nathaniel Gilles; and one great-grandson River Parshall. He was is also survived by his brothers: Randy Putnam, Rob Putnam, and Riley Putnam, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Amelia “Pudge” Putnam; sister-in-law Deborah Putnam; his Aunt Virginia and Uncle Morris Dawson; his Uncle Garold and Aunt Arlene Baker; and his grandmothers: Beatrice Baker, and Lucille Putnam.
Rick’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, deep love, and a life lived with purpose. His voice, his laughter, and his guidance will be missed beyond measure, but the impact he made will continue to shine through the lives of all who knew him.
