Phyllis Ann (Beerens) Vogt passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026 at the age of 87. Phyllis was born on March 6, 1939 in McBain, Michigan. She was the daughter of James and Theresa (VanDerWoude) Beerens. She married the love of her life, Zane Vogt, on September 28, 1957. Zane preceded her in death and was awaiting her arrival at the Gates of Heaven.
Phyllis graduated from Cadillac High School in 1957 and spent most of her years raising her family and working various jobs. She lived in Cadillac and Holland, Michigan most of her life.
Phyllis enjoyed puzzles, crosswords and thrift store shopping. She fondly remembered her days growing up on the farm as a child and was always willing to share stories.
Phyllis was the mother of Dennis (Cyndy) Vogt, Frostproof, Florida; Keith (Amber) Vogt, Bannister, Michigan; Deanna (Gary) Binder, Zeeland, Michigan; and James Vogt, Bannister, Michigan. Deanna and James also preceded her in death. Her grandchildren include: Andrew (Lindsey) Vogt, Sarah (Zachary) Stewart, Joshua Vogt, Alexander (Alyssa) Vogt, Bradley Binder, Prescott (Monika) Binder, Eric Binder and William Binder. She also had seven great grandchildren: Isabelle Smith, Payton Stewart, Isabella Stewart, Lucy Stewart, Aris Binder, Gavin Vogt and Cooper Vogt. She was one of the four Beerens sisters: Edith Soles, June Powell and Vera Wilson. Edith and June preceded her in death.
Phyllis spent the last few years of her life at Ashley Nursing Home in Ashley, Michigan.
Visitation will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, 221 East Main Street, Elsie, MI on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Phyllis will be cremated and her ashes will be combined with Zane’s and they will be buried together. The family will have a private service at Selma Township Cemetery later this summer.
