Patsy Mae Sheldon

     Patsy Mae Sheldon, age 86, of Elsie, MI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in St. Johns, MI, surrounded by her loving family.

     A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, with Pastor Brendan Holmquist officiating with visitation beginning at 12:00 P.M. Patsy will be laid to rest at South Bingham Township Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. 

     Born on July 24, 1937, in Blanchard, MI, to Maynard and Mable (Schiffler)

    Lambert, Patsy brought warmth and light into the world. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the class of 1955. On December 22, 1955, she married Lewis Sheldon in Middleton, MI. Their enduring love story was a beacon of devotion and commitment. 

     Patsy was the heart and soul of her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a faithful follower of Jesus and lived her life with grace and compassion. Known for her homecooked meals, she made Sunday dinners a cherished tradition filled with love and laughter. As the eldest of 12 children, her nurturing spirit extended beyond her siblings to her 5 children. She was the matriarch of her family.

      Her home was always open, and her heart even more so. Patsy cherished spending quality time with her family and took joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her kindness and wisdom made her a trusted confidante to many, including the staff at Hazel Findlay Country Manor where she was a beloved resident.

     Patsy leaves behind her devoted husband, Lewis Sheldon of St. Johns, MI; her sons: Mark (Sue) Sheldon of Lyons, MI, Randy Sheldon of St. Johns, MI, Tim (Karen) Sheldon of Jacksonville, FL, and Jim Sheldon of St. Johns, MI; her daughter Lori (Don) Phelps of Elsie, MI, her cherished grandchildren: Steven Sheldon, Cory Sheldon, Josh Sheldon, Krystal Sheldon, Brandy (Travis Lake) Alcaraz, Chelsea (Mickey Armstrong) Alcaraz, Morgan (D.J. Gilbert) Sheldon, Michael Sheldon, Kaci (Jared) Miller, Angela (Jordan) Hill, and Tyler Sheldon; 19 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters: Sandra (Bill) Jones, and Susan Lambert; and sisters-in-law: Dana Lambert-Bottum, Denise Lambert, Gail (Deo) Winsor, Sue Lambert, and Alice Rick; brother-in-law Rex Red, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her.

     Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her infant great-granddaughter Alivia Lake, her brothers: Eugene (Connie), Roger (Vergeline), Gary, Dennis, Richard, and Bruce Lambert; her sisters: Judy (Richard) Saylor, Pam (Larry) Struck, and Christine (Bill) Upton; and her in-laws: Howard, George (Lucille), Jim, Hank (Gene), Al (Joyce), Bill (Jo), and Chuck (Liz) Sheldon.

     In loving memory of a remarkable woman whose legacy of love, faith, and family will forever be remembered. Patsy’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
