Patrick "Pat" Steven Vernon, age 68, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Burial will take place at the Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI, at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Patrick Steven Vernon was born April 23, 1956 in Montcalm County, Michigan to Keith Vernon and Lorraine (Westerlund-Vernon) Merchant. He married Carol Ann Bare on June 25, 1977, in Ithaca, Michigan. He is survived by wife Carol, son Joe (Sara) Vernon of Ithaca, MI and their children: Jayden, Delaney, Macy, and Myla; and daughters: April (Philip) Alt of Grand Rapids, MI and their children: Marcus, Owen and Nola; and Bonnie (Corey) Fowler of Ithaca, MI and their children: Nellie and Dean; sisters: Sue (Pat) Crawford of Ithaca, MI and Sally Bosley (Kevin Newberry) of Gaylord, MI; sister-in-law Donna Vernon of Ithaca, MI; mother-in-law Ilma Jean Bare of Ithaca, MI; sister-in-law; Milly (Mike) Space of Ithaca, MI; brother-in-law Arthur Burch of Ithaca, MI; Aunts: Janet (Dave) Hartner of DeWitt, MI; Phyllis Buss of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mike Vernon, father-in-law Clarence Bare and sister-in-law Kathleen Burch.
Pat was raised in Ithaca and graduated from Ithaca High School in the great class of 1974, as he told people. He worked at Aircraft Precision in Ithaca for 15 years and then at Shults Equipment in Ithaca from 1989 until his retirement in 2019. He knew where all the city and county garages were throughout the state and enjoyed the friendships he made with them over the years. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandparent. He enjoyed watching grandchildren play sports, family camping trips, playing cards, boating, and spending time in the water. He left many friends, neighbors and acquaintances who he loved to spend time with bowling, golfing, camping, fishing, vacationing in Florida, and especially playing cards with his regular group of guys.
