Patricia Jean "Pat" Watson, age 93, of Alma, MI, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at The Laurels of Fulton, Fulton Township, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, with Rev. Fr. Paul Worley presiding. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the church.
Pat was born in Ithaca, Michigan on May 1, 1931, the daughter of Glen Roscoe and Mable Matilda (Huddleston) Koons. She graduated from Ithaca Public Schools with the class of 1949. On July 5, 1952, Patricia married William Fredrick "Bill" Watson. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage prior to his death on November 7, 2012.
Pat worked at Zody's Department Store while it was open and she and Bill owned and operated Watson's Party Store in Alma for many years. They enjoyed golfing together and she was on a golf league in North Star. Pat enjoyed ceramics, sewing and crafts. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Louis, the VFW Auxiliary and spent many hours volunteering with St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Detzler, granddaughters: Nicole Detzler (Steve Friend), Stephanie Detzler (Michael Scott), 4 great grandchildren: Dana, Breanna, Dylan and Olivia Friend. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, 3 infant children: Dale, Dean, and Diana Marie; 8 siblings: Laura (Bill) Cooper, Lucille (Gary) Kelley, Maxine (George) Cole, Virginia (Vern) Cole, Glen Robert Koons, Jerry (Marlene) Koons, and Dick (Barb) Koons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gratiot County Commission on Aging. Online condolences can be sent to www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, Michigan.
