Olin R. Whitford

Olin R. Whitford, age 88, of rural Ithaca, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at Hearts Content AFC Home in Breckenridge, with his family at his side.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15, at the Ashley United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mona Dye officiating.

Olin was born March 27, 1928, in Ashley, the son of Richard and Lulu (Pearson) Whitford.  He was the youngest of three children.  He graduated from Ashley schools.  After graduation, Olin enlisted in the Army, and served in Japan during peace times.  Olin returned from Japan and married Barbara June Wing, whom preceded him in death on December 11, 2003, after 52 years of marriage.  Olin worked as a tool ad die maker with Federal Mogul in St. Johns for thirty years.  Upon retirement, Olin and Barbara resided in Florida for four years before returning to their lifelong home in Ithaca, where they enjoyed their remaining days together.

Olin is survived by his daughter, Marcia (Dave) Routzahn of Manton, MI; four grandchildren, Adam Denman of Mesick, Andrea Harrison, Otto Harrison, and Lindsay Martineau, all of Lansing,MI; and nine great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife and parents, Olin was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Judy Ann Harrison and his sister, Elizabeth Reeves.
