Nina Fern Guild

Nina Fern Guild, age 90, of Ithaca, died Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Country Friends Adult Foster Care.  She was born in Alma on August 23, 1926, the daughter of William and Floy (Perdew) Mahler.  She married Robert Eugene Guild on April 12, 1946.  He preceded her in death on February 4, 2015.  They had been married for almost 69 years.

Nina Fern worked at the Ithaca High School cafeteria for many years.  She enjoyed her flower gardens, knitting, putting puzzles together, and playing games.  She loved spending time with her family.  She was a member of the Ithaca Church of God and involved with the Woman’s Church of God group there.

Nina Fern is survived by her daughters: Linda (Carl) Sturgeon of Milford, MI, and Gloria (Ted) Roe of Boxboro, MA; her sons: Bob (Marie) Guild of Eaton Rapids, MI, Roger (Kathy) Guild of Hoffman Estates, IL, and Randall (Sarah) Guild of Okemos, MI; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Jean Mahler,Mary Mahler,Fred and Francis Guild, and Marguerite (Guild) Fisher.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John and Gordon Mahler, and sister-in-law, Ella Jean Mahler.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 16, at the Ithaca Church of God, with Pastor Tom Whitsel officiating.  Interment will follow in North Star Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 15, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Kindred Hearts of the Ithaca Church of God or to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.  Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.
