Nicholas Leo "Nick" Thelen

     Nicholas Leo "Nick" Thelen, age 73, of Fowler, MI, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Pleasant View Senior Living, Shiawassee County, MI.
      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI, at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with Rev. Fr. Fred Thelen presiding. Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes -Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
     Nick was born in St. Johns, Michigan on June 24, 1952, the son Clair Leo and Margaret Pauline (Fedewa) Thelen. He graduated from Fowler High School, with the class of 1970. Nick retired from General Motors after many years of service. He grew up on a farm and it became his passion throughout his life. He was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
     He is survived by his siblings: Mary Jane (Duane) Boak, Joanne (Jim) Olin, Patrick Thelen, Rosanne (Gerry) Davis, Geralyn (Jordan) Bajis, Therese (Jim) deSpelder, and Chris (Joanne) Thelen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clair and Margaret Thelen and infant brother Gerard Thelen.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant View Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility - specified for the dialysis unit or St. Mary's Foundation (Kidney Transplant Program).
