Nelson Ray Rumsey

     Nelson Ray Rumsey, 85, of Perrinton, MI, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. 

     A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 22, 2024.  Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.

     Nelson was born in Maple Rapids, Michigan on January 29, 1939, the son of Raymond and Marjorie (Smith) Rumsey. He graduated from Fulton High School. Nelson served his country in the US Navy. He was an electrician and worked for General Motors in Lansing, retiring in 2004. Nelson enjoyed fishing and hunting and country music and dancing. Family get togethers were very important to him. 

     He is survived by his children: Alesia and Brian Betz of Dewitt, Michigan; Becky and Bob Wohlfert of Maple Rapids, Michigan; and Raymond Bruce and Teresa Rumsey of Lansing, Michigan; 10 grandchildren: Robby, Paige, Breanna, Jordon, Jamison, Tara, Garrett, Chris, Gabe, and Taylor, and his sister Mary Andrews of Perrinton, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Carla Carter, 4 sisters: Ruth Wesner, Donna Loudenbeck, Eulah Blemaster & Nancy Andrews, and 1 brother, Loren Rumsey. 

     Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donors Choice. Lunch will be provided at the Maple Rapids Community Center in Maple Rapids, Michigan following the funeral services.
