Minnie Dora Freed

     Minnie Dora Freed, age 89, of Ithaca, MI, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 18, 2025, at her home.
      A Memorial Service will be held at Ashley United Methodist Church, Ashley, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with Pastor Zella Daniel and Dexter Carrick officiating.
      Minnie was born in Bethany Township, Michigan on January 15, 1936, the daughter of Rudolph A. and Katie Putnam (Howd) Flashaar. She graduated from Breckenridge High School with the Class of 1954. On March 27, 1976, Minnie married Wayne Freed at the Ashley United Methodist Church. They have been married forty-nine years.
      Minnie was an RN and was Director of Nursing at the Maple Valley Nursing Home in Ashley, MI for many years. She was a member of the Ashley United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women, and sang in the choir.
      Minnie was devoted to her family. She worked hard to provide and care for her children. She faithfully attended her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She loved to bowl, golf, play horseshoes and shuffleboard. She and Wayne enjoyed traveling and spent 20 years wintering in Florida. Next, they lived in Houghton Lake for many years and golfed on several leagues. Eventually, they moved to Ithaca to be near their family.
      She is survived by her husband Wayne, three children: Jodi (Bob) Studt of Ashley, MI; Paul (Katherine) Howard of Houston, TX; and Sherri (Terry) Beck of Ashley, MI; two step-children: Ron Freed of Boyne City, MI; and Sheri (Jim) Freed-McNeil of Columbus, GA. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings: Verna (Roy) Carrick, Rupert (Glendola "Glen") Flashaar, Charles (Inez) Flashaar, Stanley "Dar" (Louella "Lou") Flashaar, and Richard (Margaret) Flashaar; and three step-children: Kay Sinclair, Kathy Freed, and Roger Freed.
