Michael Randolph "Mike" Tillotson, age 80, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, at the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing, in Lansing, MI. The celebration of life will be held at DeVries Nature Conservancy on Sunday, August 31, 2025, commencing with words of remembrance at 3:00 P.M., and followed by refreshments and reflection until the gathering concludes at 7:00 P.M. The memorial address is: 2635 North M-52 in Owosso, Michigan.
Mike was born on June 11, 1945, in Petoskey, Michigan where he grew up. Mike was the son of John Gordon and Ruby (Supernaw) Tillotson. After high school he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in environmental health from Ferris State University, and a Master’s degree Wayne State University. Mike started his Environmental and Occupational Health career in 1969, developed programs for Ferris State University where he served as a Professor for 11 years, and acted as an adjunct professor overseeing external degree students, including over 100 graduates. Mike later became the dedicated owner and operator of TEOC (Tillotson Environmental and Occupational Consulting) until his final day, creating curriculums and delivering services and steady trainings for decades.
Mike enjoyed golf, attending car shows, and was an avid bird lover. He had many wonderful quirks, diligent in his responsibilities, and will be remembered for his work ethic, thoughtfulness, willingness to help others, intelligence, wit, dry sense of humor, operation of TEOC in St. Johns, and for being a loving husband for over 20 years to Vickie. Mike was devoted to The Lord and is survived by his beloved wife Vickie Tillotson; his children: Wendy and Chris Maurer, Dawn and John Sokolik, Ben and Sara Cousineau, Adam Tillotson, Miranda Smith, Jed and Andrea Asher, Samanthia Asher, and Gimmie and Christian Baker; siblings: Frank and Barb Tillotson, Mary Helliesen Martha and Dave Radle, Monica LaPlant, and Mark and Valerie Tillotson. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Owen, Brooke, Elijah, Nicholas, Ty, Micalister, Alaina, Halyn, Teagan, Archer, Jace, Benton, Lauren, Jewel, Mia, and treasured dog Sadie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Tillotson.
Memorial donations in honor of Mike may be made to organizations supporting U.S. military veterans, the NRA, Clinton County Law Enforcement, and DeVries Nature Conservancy.
