Michael Linn, born July 27, 1929, passed away peacefully at his home on April 14, 2026, with family by his side after a long journey with Alzheimer's disease. He had a joyful upbringing in Ripley, Ohio, an area that experienced occasional flooding of the Ohio River. Tales of rowing boats to roof tops and second story windows accompanied Mike's fond memories. As did exploring the grounds of the Rankin House, once part of the Underground Railroad.
Mike attended undergraduate school at Miami University of Ohio, and received his MD from Ohio State University in 1955. After medical school, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He participated in over 1,000 hours of military transports within the U.S. and Europe, but he always credited the nurses for doing the "real work" when transporting patients in Iron Lungs.
After his service, he joined his best friend from medical school Edwin "Zip" Meyer as Gratiot Community Hospital was growing during the baby boom. After years of house calls, getting paid with food, and delivering MANY babies, he completed a Fellowship in Anesthesiology. Three Nurse Anesthetists, Rich Apps, Carl Shoebottom, and Connie Stover were by his side for many of those years.
He is survived by his wife Ginny; his children: Rhonda Linn, Mary Ellen Linn, Richard Linn and their significant others; his grandson David Linn, and his brother Alan. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Anne Linn Dorman. He is predeceased by his son Robert Linn.
Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. The family is grateful for the support of MidMichigan Hospice, Jeanine Ernest MD, and Mike's buddy and caregiver Laura Allman. You are encouraged to donate your time by visiting a person experiencing memory loss.
