Michael Lewis

Michael W. “Mike” Lewis, age 72, of Elsie, MI, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, surrounded by his family and friends at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, with Mr. Everett Smith officiating.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan at a later date.  Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021 6-8 P.M. and on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mike was born in Owosso , MI on May 21, 1949 , the son of Donald F. and Betty Jane (Johnson) Lewis.  He graduated from Ovid Elsie High School with the class of 1967.  On November 23, 1968 he married Karen Hawley in Laingsburg , MI .  After their marriage, Mike served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.  Mike was the supervisor for maintenance at the Ovid -Elsie Area Schools from 1983 until his retirement in 2012.  He loved to hunt and fish.  Mike enjoyed his time drinking coffee with his friends.  He was always willing to help his friends with anything that was needed.  He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid , MI .

He is survived by his wife Karen Lewis; one daughter Leann Lewis and one son Ryan and Johnnie Lewis; and 3 grandchildren: Colby Putnam and fiancée Amber Ridgeway, Madelyn Putnam, and Rylee Lewis; his furry sidekick Daisy; 2 sisters: Jackie and Frank Danalewich and Carol Onweller; and his brother Jeff Lewis.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
