Mary Katherine (Monroe) Rappuhn

      Mary Katherine Rappuhn, age 91, of St. Johns, MI, peacefully ended her earthly journey and began her heavenly journey on Monday, March 4, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.

      A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Okemos, MI. 

      Mary was born in Mayville, Michigan on October 20, 1932, the daughter of Beryl Cody and Katherine Moriah (Dodds) Monroe. She graduated from Vassar High School with the Class of 1950.  On January 27, 1951, Mary married Harold Rappuhn at the Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, MI.  They were blessed with seventy-three years of blissful marriage. 

      Mary was an Advanced Master Gardener and artist/crafter extraordinaire. A few of her many talents were basket making, weaving, carving, painting, beading, working with gourds, and making porcupine quill boxes. She taught painting classes and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others.

      She is survived by her husband Harold, four children: Allan (Bobbi) Rappuhn of Alabama; Cary Rappuhn of St. Johns, MI; David Rappuhn of St. Johns, MI; and Felice (Dave) Hurst of St. Johns, MI; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Brent and Eric; and three sisters: Helen, Clara, and Hazel.
