Marvin "Marv" Edward Litwiller, age 72, of Branch, formerly of Ithaca MI, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Corewell Health- Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids, MI.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Burial will follow at Hayes Road Cemetery, Ithaca MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 3-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Marv was born in Carson City, Michigan on September 18, 1952, the son of Evan Obed and Shirley Jean (Gantz) Litwiller. He graduated from Ithaca High School. Marv married Barbara Cratsenburg on June 26, 1993, at Ithaca Church of God.
Marv worked for MSU and retired after 37 years. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved deer hunting, fishing and mushrooming. He was a member of Pheasants Forever for many years and was a big believer in wildlife and water conservation. Marv passed along his love for nature and hunting to his children and grandchildren. He made many memories camping with his wife, children, friends and family. He cherished time spent with his family. He loved his land, was a hobby farmer and loved adventure. Throughout his life he owned motorcycles, boats, a paraplane, and an ultralight plane. Marv and Barb enjoyed traveling together and visited every state except Hawaii. He was a big Tiger's and MSU fan.
He is survived by his wife Barb Litwiller; children: Carissa and Ryan Marshall, Amber and Mitch Collier, Brooke, and Todd Vernon, and Maren Litwiller and Josh Frisbie; grandchildren: Mackenzie and Dayton Ashley, Joe Hanus, Taylor Collier, Lyndie Litwiller, Cole Collier, Olivia Hanus, Carter Hanus, great-grandchildren: Louis and Oliver Ashley and Salem Hanus. He is also survived by siblings: Larry and Esther Litwiller, John Litwiller, Jeff Litwiller, and Marla and Gary Jantz. He was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandson Virgil Ashley and sister-in-law Nancy Litwiller,
