Marshall W. House, 89, passed away Sunday, May 23rd, at Ashley Care Center in the company of his wife of 42 years, Marilyn House, his nephews, sister-in-law, and friends. Marshall was born August 3, 1920 in Merrill, Michigan to parents Nicholas John House and Mary Jane Marshall House. He joined the CCC Camp following high school. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 22 in 1942 where he was part of the invasion at Normandy. He finished his tour of duty in 1946 as a WWII veteran. He returned to Ithaca, Michigan and purchased his own farm land in 1951, where he successfully farmed for 34 years. He was a generous supporter and contributor to the City of Merrill and was an avid blood donor. He married Marilyn Kozeny on February 2nd, 1968. Marshall is survived by his wife, Marilyn House, two step-children, Nancy Lamoreaux and Larry Kozeny, three sisters, Ellen Walter, Marion Lauer, and Shirley Fortier, and brother Ray House, along with his very dear nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Gladys Surdock and Doris Sherwood, and his brothers Elton House and Howard House. Funeral services for Marshall will be 1pm Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Ithaca Church of God. Pastor James Conn will officiate and burial will follow at North Star Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Thursday, May 27, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Memorial contributions in Marshall’s honor may be made to either The Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsey or the Ithaca Church of God.
