Marsha Diann Eckerle (Hiller), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and warm chocolate chip cookies.
Born in Michigan, Marsha grew up with deep-rooted values that carried her through a life filled with grace and dedication. She began her education in a one-room schoolhouse at Richmond School in St. Johns and graduated with the Rodney B. Wilson High School, Class of 1965.
Marsha was proud to be a devoted housewife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. Her home was always filled with warmth—whether from the sun shining on her beloved houseplants or from the scent of her famous chocolate chip cookies, especially the ones the boys NEEDED for deer camp.
She found joy in the simple things—her plants, fishing, taking walks, bowling, and time spent with her family. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a long-standing member of the First Assembly of God in St. Johns, Michigan. For several years, Marsha was a homemaker and volunteered in the lunchroom at Midland Christian School, where she was a friendly and familiar face. Marsha spent part of her working years at Pendell Printing in Midland Michigan, then at Barnard Manufacturing, where she brought her strong work ethic and kind spirit to the tool room.
She is survived by her loving family: her sister Susan Gurden of Maple Rapids, MI; her brother David (Leilani) Hiller of St. Johns, MI; her son Michael (Stephanie) Eckerle of Fremont, IN; daughter-in-law, Rachel Eckerle; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her cherished son, Matthew Eckerle.
Marsha’s life was a beautiful reflection of selflessness, always putting others before herself, her kindness, and her deep love for her family. She will be remembered always—for the warmth of her presence, her quiet strength, and the sweetness she shared with everyone lucky enough to know her.
