Marlene Louise Groves

     Marlene Louise Groves, age 86, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 20, 2024, with Rev. Jim Pearl officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
       Marlene was born in Lansing, Michigan on March 16, 1938, the daughter of Hugh and Laura Katherine (Ernst) Bashore.
     She enjoyed bowling putting puzzles together. Baking and cooking were a big enjoyment in her life. Her grandchildren were very special to her. She had worked for Chrysler, in Lyons, Michigan. She retired from Hazel I. Findlay in St. Johns, Michigan. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church.
     She is survived by her two sons: Kenneth and Maggie Matice of Ovid, MI; David and Deann Matice of Pewamo, MI; her brother-in-law, Norm Sparks. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Sarah Perkins, Brandi (Eric) Dunkel, Christopher (Michelle) Matice, and Jessica Matice; seven great-grandchildren: Bailee, Gracie, Brent Jr., Jace, Blake, Gage, and Michael. She was preceded in death by her husbands, stepson Allan Matice; siblings: Jerry Bashore, Robert (Bernice) Bashore, Richard (Delores) Bashore, and Katherine Sparks; and brother-in-law Glen Fifield.
